As part of her "fandom OC" interpretation, I've chosen to depict Derpy as almost a "hero of another story," accounting for the odd places she pops up in the series (such as in a snowglobe, in the past as she normally appears, in the present as a filly, in Fluttershy's chicken coop, and watching Rainbow Dash jousting in the Crystal Empire). Lots of strange things happen to her, including things outside of what's actually shown as we're shown things from the Mane Six's perspective. Because she's generally kind of oblivious, though, she doesn't really take any notice of the fact that things are actually a little weird, and she just goes along with everything.

I am not including some aspects of how fandom depicts her. She is not a mailpony (though she'd give it a go if someone let her), she has no daughter, and she is not a companion to the Doctor.

Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: Derpy is a small grey pegasus with bubbles on her butt, and she has the capabilities of all pegasi in Equestria - simply put, she can fly and screw with the weather! For abilities more specific to the character, though, Derpy is a walking disaster zone who can break things just by sitting down and doing nothing. Yes, this counts as an ability. She also seems to be unusually strong for a pegasus, considering just how easily she breaks things.

She also seems to pop up in the strangest of places, and is a bit of a weirdness magnet. Thankfully, since she pretty much rolls with anything, the weirdness has minimal impact on her. Like Pinkie, she occasionally manages to completely screw physics, but in Derpy's case it's entirely accidental and so normal to her it doesn't even register as odd.

Personality: The first thing I feel obliged to state: Derpy is a character produced by the fandom. As such, versions of her can vary greatly, but there are still common traits. The first - she delivers mail. The second - she loves muffins. The third - she's clumsy to "beyond the impossible" levels. So, basically, I'm pretty much dealing with an OC here and I'm kind of making things up according to how I want to play her.

For the most part, Derpy has no idea what the hay is going on. However, let's make this clear: she does not care. She's more than happy to casually float along with whatever life throws at her, no matter whether she's suddenly and mysteriously trapped in a snowglobe, or turned into a filly, or suddenly in the past, or something else completely ridiculous that nopony else even notices. It's not that she doesn't notice that things always happen to her... it's just that those things are so commonplace they're normal to her, and even when things get particularly surreal she's the type who'll just shrug and get on with it, without a word of argument.

She'll give anything a go. Weather management? No prob. Working for a moving company? Sure! Flying competition? Sounds like fun! Hanging out with the Canterlot Elite while wearing paper bags? Cool! Chickens? Oh, hi there! Assertiveness training? Why not? Train ride in the muffin cart? WOOO!

And yet, despite doing everything, she does all of it with barely a care in the world.

For the most part, Derpy is cheerful, friendly, upbeat, and a genuinely nice pony. She'll gladly offer her support to everypony and cheer them on, even when they aren't ponies she normally hangs out with (though to be fair, Derpy doesn't really hang out with anypony in particular anyway). She always tries her best in whatever she does, even though she always seems to cause a small disaster - whether dropping everything but the kitchen sink on a wheelchair-bound pony, or destroying the Town Hall with lightning, crashing into support beams and putting holes in the floor. She's always apologetic, and feels bad for the poor pony she's managed to hurt, but it doesn't take long for her to get back into the flow of things - after all, what's the use in letting everything get you down?

Oddly, for such a friendly pony, she doesn't have a whole lot of friends (though if you were to ask her, everypony is her friend). This is largely a side-effect of her being kind of oblivious and just floating along with whatever - she rarely spends long enough with one pony to form particularly close bonds. That isn't to say, however, that she can't, it's just that - hey! A muffin!

She's not really the easiest of ponies to hold a conversation with. Not one that makes too much sense, anyway. She may not be hyperactive like Pinkie, but - much like she just floats along from one thing to the next - she floats from topic to topic as well, tends to daydream, gets distracted, and sometimes comes out with things nopony understands. Courtesy of all the "interesting" things that happen to her, she is capable of some mild fourth wall breakage and will occasionally refer to things that can't possibly be real or make any sense in the context of present day Equestria (like computers, and cyberpunk, and Forelock Holmes) but, since she doesn't actually understand them herself, even those from other worlds who are familiar with these things probably won't get it.

Basically, Derpy is an strange, strange little pegasus.

[Considering she types like that, one might wonder how in the world she even managed to log in. She seems happy with it, though, and submits her BBS post.

Well, that was a job well done! Pleased with her work, the pegasus shifts position and sits her rear down on the cloud... giving anybody who happened to be underneath a short, cold shower.
